Our Plan for 2010
As we are currently in a minority government situation, we have to assume that an election could be called sometime this year. We therefore have a golden opportunity right now to build a wonderful group of committed and engaged volunteers who can be election-ready when the writ is dropped. Our plan throughout the year is to take part in as many community events as possible while showcasing our candidate at every opportunity. Keeping the Green Party in the public eye is now more important than ever and with your help during the year, we can work together to help elect a Green MP in Vancouver-Centre in the next election.
Our Volunteer Philosophy
Giving Your Free Time to the Cause
Having been a volunteer myself in previous political campaigns and in the field of sport, recreation and injury prevention, I understand the importance of the time you give to any cause. Our goal is to ensure that we have as many volunteers as possible so that we can comfortably spread the workload around. Your free time is worth its weight in gold and every hour of help is appreciated.
Tasks That Fit You
Volunteering in something that you enjoy can only result in a successful campaign. It’s therefore important that you are matched with tasks that are satisfying and appropriate to your abilities. If you do have special skills that you think could help us, let us know.
Learning Along the Way
Volunteering also provides a great opportunity to learn new skills and experience new areas of interest. Training is an integral part of our campaign and can open up exciting new areas of interest.
Meeting New Friends
Campaigns have one thing in common…….a commitment to the policies and ideals of the party. We all come from a wide variety of backgrounds, skill sets and experiences that can make the overall experience interesting and rewarding. It’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends along the way.

Volunteering also enhances your ability to make worthwhile contacts that can give your career a great boost. Prospective employers are always impressed with candidates who have given their time volunteering, and this can help give you that extra edge when applying for work.

There will be a lot of opportunities for social interaction throughout the year, so be prepared to attend fun parties and activities along the way.
How You Can Help
1. Read through the Volunteer Opportunities Page on a regular basis. There may be something that fits perfectly with your time availability and interests!
2. Fill out the online Volunteer Form and we will contact you directly to help you get involved. Remember that this form is only for the pre-election period. There are a variety of other tasks that will be added when the actual campaign begins.
